Of nine High-speed Rail routes vetted by Texas Central Railway, TxDot and the FRA, two have been chosen as preferred.

One of those would run above the BNSF freight rail line -- cutting through long-established neighborhoods such as Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, Independence Heights and Lindale. Bullet trains would run every 30 minutes, 18 hours a day.

The rail structure itself would be 24 feet above the existing railroad grade, topped by another 20-25 feet of platform and utility lines.
